Adolfo Gonzalez Escobedo, 84, passed away on May 30, 2025 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel. Burial will be held at a late date in Mexico.
Adolfo was born on October 14, 1940 in Durango, Mexico to Florencio Gonzalez Ontiveros and Ignacia Escobedo. He was preceded in death by his wife, Anastasia Arambula Flores.
Adolfo was one of a kind—well known in every town he set foot in. People naturally gravitated toward him because of his warmth, his stories, and his kind spirit.
He loved talking about his past—about how things were when he was growing up, the hard work he put in, and the lessons he learned along the way. Those stories weren’t just memories to him—they were his way of teaching us, guiding us, and connecting us to the roots of our family. Adolfo had a heart bigger than words can describe. He cared deeply for his family and found joy in simply being with us. Whether it was a holiday gathering, a simple Saturday visit, or a phone call he would make to check in—he cherished every moment. To us—his kids and grandkids—he was more than just a grandfather and a Dad. He was our rock, our role model, and our biggest supporter. No matter what we were going through or what path we chose in life, he was always there with a word of encouragement, a lesson from his own life, or just a listening ear. He showed us what it means to be strong, to be kind, and to lead with love and believe in God. He lived a life full of purpose, and he made sure we all knew how proud he was of us. We were truly blessed by the grandpa God gave us—blessed that He shared him with us for so many years, to watch us grow, to guide us with wisdom, and to love us unconditionally. Though he’s no longer with us in body, his spirit lives on in every one of us—in the stories we tell, the lessons we carry, and the love we continue to share with each other.
