Amy Hooks Obituary

Amy Dianne Hooks, of Mexia, passed away on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Waco, Texas. Amy fought long & hard to stay on this earth. Now, she is in the presence of God and we can all find peace in that she can finally be pain-free and at rest.

A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church of Mexia on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Marcus Sheffield, officiating. Interment will follow at Mexia Cemetery. Family & friends will be received on Sunday, December 1st, from 4-6 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services in Mexia. Amy was born on February 28, 1975 in Houston, Texas to William Douglas "Doug" Hooks, Jr. & Dianne Frost Hooks. She will always be remembered for her vibrant personality, spunk and creative ability. She could make you laugh so hard your sides & cheeks would ache. She enjoyed cooking, making beautiful floral arrangements, gardening, decorating, and socializing. Amy absolutely loved music and sharing good times with those that meant the most to her.

Amy was a child of God; a daughter, sister, mother, aunt, family member and friend. She treasured the special bond she had with her mother. Dianne & Amy had a relationship that was rare and unconditional. Dianne took every step with her daughter and fought this long battle with Amy. Amy's relationship with her family was something she treasured greatly. Growing up, the six cousins were close in age, attending Mexia Schools all together, and had a very close friendship. When it came to her sister, Ashley "Red", she was so proud of the woman her little sister had become. She respected her greatly & looked to her for strength and support in her life. The very special role of "Aunt Amy" to her nieces, Mattelyn and Morgan was dear to her and she loved these girls with her whole heart.

Amy was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Daniel Preston ‘Pep" Frost; step-grandfather, JA "Jay" Andrews; paternal grandparents, William Douglas Hooks, Sr. & Dixie Cook Hooks; maternal great-grandparents, J.R. & Effie Hyden Manning and paternal great-grandparents, Jessie James & Carrie Couch Cook.

She is survived by her beloved sons, Justin Frost McClellan, age 22 & Jacob "Jake" McClellan, age 17 of Wortham. She was very proud of them & everything that they've accomplished. Parents, William Douglas "Doug" Hooks Jr. & Dianne Frost Hooks, of Mexia; sister, Ashley Hooks Hall & husband, Matthew of Mexia; nieces, Mattelyn and Morgan Hall of Mexia; grandmother, Janis Frost of Mexia; aunts and uncles, Melanie & Jon Holloway of Mexia, Marcus & Molly Frost of Mexia, Melanie & William Shannon Rogers of Dallas and Nannette & Marshall Gummelt of Crawford, as well as numerous cousins and other extended family.

The family would like to express their gratitude to Val & April Maldanado for your kindness, friendship and care you gave our Amy.
