Barbara A. Jones, 75 of Mexia, entered into eternal rest on June 8, 2022 in Waco, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethsaida Missionary Baptist Church in Mexia, Pastor Timothy Williams and Reverend Kennen Jackson, officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Barbara Ann (Carroll) Jones was born on March 13, 1947 to James & Alma Carroll in Richland, Texas. Barbara’s greatest love was her family and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and quilting.
She attended schools in Limestone County. Barbara worked at the Mexia Sate School for 28 years, before retiring. She later worked for group homes in Corsicana and Mexia until her death. She was an active member of Bethsaida Church as the secretary.
Barbara was united in Holy Matrimony with John C. Jones, Sr. on May 26, 1967 in Limestone County, Texas.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 47 years; her parents; her brother, James Carroll, Jr. and sister, Thelma Carroll. She leaves to cherish her memory, daughter, Alma Brooks and husband Roger, of Mexia; son John Jones and wife, Tomeko of Mexia; special grandchildren, Candace Brooks and Coby Brooks & wife, Brenda of Mexia; wonderful great-grandchildren, Mason Mendoza and Corbin Brooks of Mexia; two sisters, La Verne Jones and husband, Earnest of Mexia and Bernice Carroll of Mexia; special sister-in-law, Glodine Carroll of Mexia and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Serving as pallbearers are Arthur Brooks, Roderick Durham, Petty Durham, Dana Busby, Leslie Brooks, Willie Roy Favors, Eugene Carter and Reggie Perkins. Honorary Pallbearers are her nephews.
