Bessie Jolene Nelson was born in Mexia, TX on March 11, 1947 to Jessie and Bessie Nelson, the youngest of three siblings.

Jolene was a pleasant person who could put a smile on any face with her quiet humor. She loved her family and was a happy person even in hard times. She enjoyed her dogs, especially the pugs.
She lived at Skilled Care of Mexia for the last 2½ years of her life and made many friends among the staff and residents. Jolene loved telling them about the earthly Paradise that she looked forward to.
She is survived by her brother, Jesse Nelson of Kerrville, TX and sister, Rose (Sammie) Jones of Mexia, her sons Michael Hill of Mexia and Randy Hill of Gun Barrel City, her daughter Sheila Melendez of Mexia and her three grandchildren, Amber Powell of Mexia, and Mandy and Mark Hill of Gun Barrel City and former daughter-in-law, Lisa Warren, with whom she remained very close.
