Bettie Marie Combs

Bettie Marie Combs, of Mexia, passed away on May 8, 2018 at her residence, with family at her side, after a lengthy battle with bone issues and dementia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel in Mexia, Texas, with Reverend Jeff Wright, officiating. Interment will follow at Mexia Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 10, 2018 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are JT Barnett, Jason Woodall, Cody Woodall, Jeff Woodall, Keith Smith and Aaron Glenn. Bettie was born February 7, 1935 to Sally Pauline & John Dabney in Mexia, Texas. Bettie, our Mom, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and friend to many, will be missed by all who knew her. Anyone who ever met her loved her. She just had a loving, giving spirit that caused you to love her in return. Bettie started her adult life at an early age by marrying a young, widowed dad, Alva S. Woodall, with two sons. Bettie's family grew to 5 children before becoming a widow herself. Bettie later married Tom Combs with two children of his own. Bettie's life revolved around her children, her church and the Lord. Bettie started her relationship with the Lord as a child at Northside Baptist Church in Mexia and finished her race on this earth as a member of the same church (with a 23 year interruption of living in Houston). Bettie was preceded in death by her parents, Sally Pauline Hyde & John Dabney; brother, Freddy Dabney and husbands, Alva S. Woodall & Thomas Combs. She is survived by her sisters, Dorothy Pevehouse & husband, John and Brenda Kennedy & husband, Kenneth; brother, Stanly Glenn (Bud) Gregory & wife Charlotte; Children, Alvie (Butch) & Aurora Woodall of Mexia, Jimmy & Debbie Woodall of Deer Park, Texas, Theresa McDonald of Mexia, Jerry Woodall of Mexia, Tonya & Randy Barnett of Mexia, Cindy Pavelra & Donnie of Waco, Texas and Mike & Cheryl Combs of Waco, Texas; Grandchildren, Jeffery Woodall & wife, Linda of Deer Park, Texas, Stacey Glenn & Husband, Aaron of Deer Park, Billy McDonald & wife, Brenda of Houston, Texas, Cindy Hallmark & husband, Brian of New Mexico, Misty Minner & husband, Keith of Michigan, Cody Woodall & wife, Jennifer of Wortham, Jason Woodall of Fairfield, Texas, Michelle Woodall of Mexia, Texas, Ashley Steenken &husband, Tyler of Brenham, Texas, Amanda Barnett & fiancé Josh Rios of Temple, Texas, J T Barnett of Mexia, Dwayne & wife, Amy Pavelka and Rebecca Pavelka of Waco, Josh Combs & Krislyn Combs, as well as 29 great-grandchildren.
