Billy (Bill) Marcus Wright, Sr.

Billy (Bill) Marcus Wright, 90 of Mexia, passed away on March 15, 2026, at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia.  Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Mexia with Reverend Jeff Wright, Reverend Marcus Wright (Bill Jr.) and Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating.  Interment will follow at Mexia Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services. 

Bill was born on June 28, 1935, at home in Robertson County, Texas to Marcus Edgar & Ellene Allen Wright.  He is described as known for his kind and serving heart.  This is why, with him being a man of many hats and trades, he especially felt honored to minister to his community thru his time in funeral service, serving countless families in the area. He was a man of smiles, hugs and humor, always finding the perfect balance.  In his spare time, his favorite hobby was horses. He was a member and proud to be a back-to-back President of the Mexia Lions Club. He was a long-time member of Northside Baptist Church in Mexia. 

Preceding Bill in death was his parents, grandson Kyle Landon Wright and siblings, Hilton Wright, Ruby Christal Hill, his twin brother, Ben Wright and Leldon Wright. 

Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Judy of Mexia; children, Billy M. Wright Jr & wife, Tricia of Mexia, Ivy Spakes of Mexia, Shelly Wright of Mexia and Anthony (Tony) Wright & wife, Melissa of Weatherford; grandchildren, Leland Wright & wife, Jennifer, Lindsey Carter & husband, Jami, Mikki Riffenburg & husband Bobby and Amanda Howard; great grandchildren, Emalee, Clayton & wife, Nina, Remington, Colton & wife Dyanne, Keelynn, Kyle,  Jackson, Madison and Charlee and great-great granddaughter, Nova Jane; as well as his brother Ernest Wright; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. 

Serving as pallbearers are Leland Wright, Jami Carter, Bobby Riffenburg, Jackson Howard, Colton Carter, Kyle Carter, Clayton Wright, Remington Wright and Michael Jones.  Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Creed, Bryan Creed and Jimmy Creed Jr.
