Brenda Ann Stein

Brenda Ann Stein, 84 of San Antonio, entered into eternal rest on April 14, 2024 in Mexia at the Skilled Care.  Brenda was born on September 20, 1939 in Amarillo, Texas to C.W. & Mary Joe Gates Foote.  After graduating high school, Brenda earned both Bachelors and Masters Degrees from the University of Texas at Austin.  She started her computer career at IBM in California, then moved to Texas, and spent many years at USAA.

Brenda, or as she was affectionally known as “Mama Bear”, loved her family.  Family was number one to her.  She was a very witty, intelligent, and bright woman.  Brenda loved nature and being outdoors.  When she wasn’t outdoors, she was in the kitchen, whipping together her wonderful foods and baked goods. Her 7-Up cakes and buttermilk pies couldn’t be beat, and that is just naming a couple.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Jim Sheppard. A few hours after her death, her husband, Ernest Stein, passed away at their residence. Those left to cherish the special memories about Brenda are her children, Marc Sheppard & wife Kim of Mexia, Elizabeth Ann Addington & husband, Chris of Rhome and Christopher Sheppard & fiancé, Ferrin Wheeler of Brentwood, Tennessee; her grandchildren, Presley Beavers & husband, Terry, Shelby Sheppard, Cason Addington, and Finn and Darby Wheeler; great-grandchildren, Blakely Beavers and Rhett Beavers; siblings Josephine Proett, and Curtis Foote & wife, Gail; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Memorial services will be held at a late date.
