Carrie Kathleen Strong beloved wife, sister, and friend, passed away unexpectedly in her sleep in the early morning of October 11, leaving behind a legacy of faith, creativity, and unwavering generosity. She is survived by her devoted husband, Mark, with whom she shared 30 years full of love, laughter, and service.
A devout Catholic and true servant of Christ, Carrie gave of her time and talents without reservation in every community she and Mark called home. Whether leading as a cantor at Mass, singing for special liturgical celebrations, singing with the Spanish Choir, or organizing parish fundraisers, Carrie’s presence was a blessing to all who knew her.
Carrie was a woman of many gifts, but perhaps none more cherished than her artistry in quilting. She found joy in designing fabric patterns, piecing together intricate squares, and leading online sew-alongs that brought people together across distances. Her quilts, shared with friends and family far and wide, were more than fabric and thread—they were expressions of love, warmth, and connection.
After retiring from a successful career in textile sales, Carrie embarked on a remarkable personal transformation. She lost over 100 pounds in a single year, running a half marathon each month and inspiring countless others with her determination and joy. This journey led her to open a thriving gym, where she once again built a community rooted in encouragement and shared purpose.
When the COVID-19 pandemic forced Carrie and Mark to close their gym, they embraced a new chapter in Texas—a place they came to love deeply. What could have been a breaking point for many became, for Carrie, another opportunity to grow, adapt, and thrive. Her optimism was unshakable, her faith enduring, and her spirit indomitable.
Born to Veleta and Donald Mullen, July 13, 1965, Carrie was the eldest of three siblings and a devoted aunt to one niece and two nephews. She embraced her role as “Auntie” with the same wholehearted enthusiasm she brought to every part of her life. Whether planning magical trips to Disneyland, attending theater performances, or organizing epic game nights, Carrie created unforgettable memories and traditions. She poured herself into the lives of her family and friends.
Carrie’s life was a testament to resilience, creativity, and compassion (and cats). She touched the lives of many and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
