Clarence Ray Taylor, 93 of Shiloh, passed away on November 12, 2022, at his residence. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Clifton Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Shiloh Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held prior to the service, starting at 9:00 a.m., at the funeral home.
Mr. Taylor was born on March 24, 1929, in Teague, Texas to Clarence & Ivey Johnson Taylor. After his parent’s deaths at six years old, Ray grew up in the Corsicana Children’s Home, then returning to Mexia. Ray married Jimmie Mae Alewine on April 15, 1950. He served his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, he worked at the Dr. Pepper Distributor and later retired from the Mexia State School. Mr. Taylor was a member of Prairie Grove Baptist Church.
Preceding Mr. Taylor in death were his wife, Jimmie Taylor; his parents, brothers and sisters; sons, Rickey Taylor, David Taylor and an infant son and great-grandson, Gavin Ray Williams. Survivors include his daughter, Karen Forman & husband, Hugh of Mexia; grandson, William Forman, Jr; granddaughters, Michelle Williams of Sherman, Texas, Megan Finch of Azle, Texas and Sarah Giles of Mexia, Texas; sister, Dorothy Auld and husband, Edmond of Mexia; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
