Cyril Farris

Cyril Ellis Farris, longtime pillar of the Mexia community, entered into his Heavenly home on November 21, 2024 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mexia High School Auditorium with Shane Winters, officiating.  Visitation will be held Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services. 

Cyril was born on February 26, 1954 in Mexia, Texas to Cecil & Margie Black Farris.  He graduated from Mexia High School and then TSTC in Waco.  He was employed for 20 years at Big Brown.  He was mostly known professionally as one of the owner/operators of Farris Wrecker and then was an employee most recently with Texas Towing.  Cyril loved motorcycles, cars and racing.  He was also a big guy with a big heart.  He was always helping people, from unlocking cars, giving people a tow, and many other causes/fundraisers in the community. 

Cyril was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil & Margie Farris.  Left behind to cherish his memories are his children, Amanda Jo Farris of Mexia, Anthony Farris & wife, Stephanie of Mexia and Jenna Farris; grandchildren, Gavin, Corbin, Lily and Opal; great grandson, Jordan; brother, Haskel Farris & wife, Tracy of Mexia; nephew, Kyler Farris & wife, Mindy; numerous other nieces, nephews and extended family; Special friends, Uncle McKinley "Murk" Murkeldove,  Steve "Deacon" McGowan, Monica Davis, Jesse “Rooter’ Owens, Billy Mac Sterling and Tyler Hull.

Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers are members of the Texas Towing Family.  A very special thanks is given to nurses Juilia, Avery & Melissa of Solaris Hospice.   

The family request that those bringing food for the meal after the service deliver it to Seidy Garrett at Lonestar Cowboy Church of Limestone County, 2244 Hwy. 84, Mexia, on Tuesday afternoon.
