Daniel W. Glover

Daniel Wilson Glover Sr “Danny”, 77 of Mexia, passed away on July 9, 2021 peacefully in his Mexia, TX home with his family at his bedside.  A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mexia Cemetery with Reverend Marcus Sheffield, officiating. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday evening from 4-6 p.m. at the Jones Funeral Services.

Danny Glover was born on October 22, 1943 in Austin, Texas. He married Peggy Jordan on August 22, 1969 in Groesbeck, TX and had resided in Mexia since 1966. He served in the Navy from 1960-1966. He retired from the Mexia State School in the late 90’s, although that was not “retirement” for him. Danny worked until he couldn’t anymore in group homes with guys, he considered family.

Danny was preceded in death by his grandmother, Netti Leath and son Daniel Wilson Glover Jr. “Bubba”.  He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Glover of Mexia; Daughters, Carolyn Wilson and husband Tony of Mexia and Sharon Smith of Mexia; Grandchildren, William Briscoe and Wife Kim of Baytown. TX, Christopher Briscoe and wife Crystal of Coolidge, Taylor Lacy and Husband Chris of Mexia, Rebecka Smith of Huntsville, TX, Angie McClendon of Mexia and Blossom Glover of Mexia; as well as 8 great grandchildren and countless of “bonus” grandchildren who also called him “Papaw”. 

Honorary pallbearers are: Roger McNeel Sr, Roger McNeel Jr, Draymond Tucker, Russ Smith, David Mora, Ricky Hadley, and Braxton Briscoe.
