Obituary

Donald Ray Moore of Mexia, Texas passed away on June 10, 2023, at the age of 72. Donald was born on September 21,1950 in Mexia, Texas to Willie Dock Moore, Jr., and Ruby Adeline Owen Moore. Donald passed peacefully at his home in Wichita Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother Willie and Ruby Moore, grandparents Willie and Martha Moore, Minor Owen and Effie Owen and his grandson Elijaah Boston. He is survived by his siblings Patricia Wright (Spouse Daniel), Shirley Speed (Spouse William), Bruce Moore (Spouse Joy), Martha Moore. He is also survived by his children Donald Watkins (Spouse Christa), Tillman Moore (Spouse Tammy), Justin Moore (Spouse Tasha), Misty Moore (Spouse Michael), Melissa Moore (Spouse Christopher), Tracy Moore. He is also survived by his grandchildren Halie Watkins, Lillian Watkins, Steven Watkins, Stacy Moore, Juelia Moore, Jonathan Cotton, Christian Stewart, Paige Moore, Madison Moore, Sierra Boston, Autumn Buffum, Trevor Buffum, Preston Buffum, Christopher Smith Jr., Angel Smith, Ethan Smith, Macie Smith, Colton Smith, Chevy Sargent, Blazer Sargent, Zaine Sargent, Phoenix Sargent, and great grandchildren Amiyah Smith,

Maleah Smith and the newest member of the family joining in January Heavenly Staley. He is also survived by a multitude of other family and friends.

Donald attended Mexia high school and loved playing football and baseball. He left home to join the Army in 1968 starting his journey at Fort Bliss as a Field Artillery Cannon Op and Fire Direction Assistant.  At the reserve he was a Hercules Missile Crewman. Part of his career was serving in Vietnam. Donald spent many years in Germany with the 507th USA Army Paratroopers. He loved his country and serving was one of his greatest honors and accomplishments. Donald later in life had children and grandchildren that were all his pride and joy. He loved his family with all his heart.

A graveside memorial service will be held by Pastor Steven Palmer at Mexia City Cemetery on Sunday, July 30, 2023, at 2:00 pm. 700 E Evelyn St. Mexia, Tx 76667 section 15.
