Donald Fayne O'Connell

Donald Fayne O'Connell, 66, of Mexia, passed away on February 8, 2018 in Mexia. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel, with Judge Ray Jones, Officiating. Interment will follow at Mexia Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers are Jacob O'Connell, Tyler Samford, Travis Samford, Sam Wright, William O'Connell and Dwight Cannon. Family visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. O'Connell was born on December 21, 1951 in Mexia, Texas to Leroy Melvin "Mike" & Vida Lorene Carlisle O'Connell. He retired after 33 years of service as a mail carrier and window clerk with the Mexia Post Office. Donnie loved the outdoors, driving the backroads, and hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Gwen O'Connell; his parents and siblings and their spouses, JoAnn Cannon & husband, Gene, Peg Fisk and husband, Bill, Michael O'Connell, Van O'Connell and Patrick O'Connell. Mr. O'Connell is survived by his son, Patrick O'Connell & wife, Cynthia of New Braunfels; daughter, Jennifer Samford & husband, Kevin of Mexia; grandchildren, Travis Samford, Kathryn O'Connell, Rileigh O'Connell, Tyler Samford, Jacob O'Connell and Carleigh Samford; great-grandchildren, Hayden Samford and Emery Samford; sisters-in-law, Reba O'Connell, Linda O'Connell, Kay O'Connell, Gail Grinstead, Jerre Pruitt and Caroline Hallmark & Husband, Bobby; brother-in-law, Johnny Wright & wife, Janie; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
