Freda Kay Gremminger, “Cookie”, passed away on August 8, 2020 at her residence at the age of 73. A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Union Cemetery. A lunch & fellowship will be held afterwards, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Cookie’s home at Lake Mexia.
Cookie was born on February 9, 1947 in Teague, Texas to David Odell & Frances Alford Alexander. She married Tim Gremminger on May 28, 1984 in Mexia. She retired as a Justice of the Peace in Limestone County after serving four terms. Cookie was a member of Forest Glade Baptist Church.
Mrs. Gremminger was preceded in death by her husband, Timmie; parents, David & Frances Alexander; brother, David Alexander, Jr.; sister, Patsy Copeland and great-grandson, Kade Alexander Staton. Survivors include her daughter, Stacye Dene’ Smith & husband, Kenny of Temple; son, Carl David "Sonny" Young & Jody Payne of Fair Oaks; step-daughter, Terrie Olson; sister, Sandra Ingram of Mexia; grandsons, Stephen Young of Burkburnett, Texas, Spencer Wright of Temple & Brandon Smith of Pennsylvania; granddaughters, Meagan Staton of Wortham, McKenzie Young of Fair Oaks, Shelby Wright of Temple, Kimberly Summers of Temple and Chelsea Henderson of Troy, Texas; ten great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
