Geneva Joyce Hayes, 84 of Mexia, passed away on June 3, 2022 at the Manor Nursing Home in Mexia. A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Drew Allen & Adrian Candanoza, officiating. Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mrs. Hayes will be cremated after the services.
Mrs. Hayes was born on November 7, 1937 in Houston, Texas. She located to the central Texas are in 1972, where she worked as a waitress, the best in Dew, Texas, and raised her family. She married Robert Lee Hayes in 1963, and they had four sons. She was baptized into the Christian Faith and Corinth Baptist Church in Dew. When the kids were little, she enjoyed taking them fishing, even when they should be in school. She was a bingo queen, loved Elvis Presley, crossword puzzles and watching sports, especially her Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Her cooking was wonderful, among many things, her outstanding chicken and dumplings.
Preceding Geneva in death was her parents, Jimmy & Myrtle Barnes; Husband, Robert Lee Hayes Sr. and son, Robert Lee Hayes, Jr.
Survivors include her sons, Jimmie Hayes & wife, Cindy of Dew, Steve Hayes & wife, Wendy of Mexia and Bill Hayes & wife, Jennifer of Mexia; daughter-in-law, Donna Russell of Burleson; grandchildren, Jimmie Hayes & wife Ashley, Tammy Carter & husband, William, Jesse Hayes, Robert Monk, Stephen Hayes & wife, Brandi, Stephanie Smith & husband, Ryan, Tarin Barrett & husband, Randall, Ryan Hayes, Zach Hayes and Reece Hayes; 21 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren.
