Mr. Dabney was born on August 23, 1965 in Wortham, Texas to James Edward Sr. & Carolyn Louise Jones Dabney. He was raised in Mexia and was self-employed for the first 15-20 years as a carpenter before becoming disabled. He was baptized in 2000 by Rev. Garth Landtroop at the First United Pentecostal Church of Groesbeck.
In his early years, Jimmy loved to work and build things from wood. He was an excellent carpenter. He loved to look for and collect arrowheads. His girls and grandkids were his heart. After his disability, his friends were his life. Jimmy was a friend to all and would give you the shirt off his back, but don’t try to take it because he had a very hot temper. Besides the birth of his girls and grandkids, one of the proudest moments of Jimmy’s life was when his great nephew, John Ellis III enlisted in the Marines. He would talk about him with so much pride. He enjoyed going to his grandson’s soccer games.
