James Jackson Obituary

James Jackson, 72 of Mexia, passed away surrounded by family at his home on September 18, 2025.  A visitation will be held on Monday, September 22, 2025 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services in Mexia.  James was born on July 2, 1953 in Houston, Texas.

James was diagnosed with PD in 2000. For over 25 years he has refused to struggle with the disease and has continued to inspire those around him with his strength and kindness. James had a long career culminating in a management position where he could help people grow in both life and their careers. His lasting impact in his coworkers lives will go unmatched for years to come. He spent a portion of his life dedicated to preserving the nation's history by volunteering to help restore WW2 historical boats, including the PT 309. This provided him an opportunity to make lasting friendships as well as preserve the legacy that our veterans have left behind. He has been a loving husband for 45 years, and the best father anyone could hope for to his children who survive him. His life with PD should serve as an inspiration to others as he refused to let it stop him for the last 25 years. His wit and humor, his wisdom and compassion, his hard work and strong moral compass shaped many lives and will continue to hold a lasting impact.

James is survived by his wife Barbara, his children Keri, Jamie, Jeromy, and Cody; his sister Anna, his brother John, as well as his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He made a lasting impact on all of those around him, and his contribution to everyone will live forever.

We would like to extend a special thank you to everyone from AccentCare Hospice that helped to make this transition as peaceful as possible.  Donna, Jamie, Charlene, Nicole, and Jennifer, as well as others all took amazing care of him and provided comfort to the family.  His aide, Tammie, had a very special connection with him.  His face lit up every time she came over, and her visit was filled with laughter and joking.  Tammie touched his heart with her care, and we will never forget her.

A fund has been created in his memory to with all proceeds going to the Michael J Fox foundation in hopes of preventing this illness for others. Instead of flowers or food, please donate to help stop Parkinsons Disease. https://tribute.michaeljfox.org/tribute-page.php?id=3321&np=true
