Jeanie Davis Williams

Jeanie Davis Williams, 73 of Mexia, passed away on September 6, 2020 at her residence.  A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Tehuacana Cemetery with Reverend Tom Prentiss, officiating.  Family visitation will be held on Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

 Jeanie Was born on February 6, 1947 in Mexia, Texas to Jack & Sarah Sanders Davis.  She was a graduate of the Mexia High School Class of 1965.  She married Joe Walton Williams in 1967.  During her working career, she worked at the Mexia State School, Holmes Veterinary Clinic and most recently with a home care agency.  She was a hard worker, loved to laugh and was very much a lover of animals. She was a natural caregiver and was devoted to her family as a loving mother, wife, companion and sister.  She was an excellent cook and also enjoyed working in her yard.  Prior to her heart attack at age 50, she was an accomplished equestrienne and, together with her dad, trained many horses for horse show events.  They both had several trophies and ribbons to show for their success.  For many years, she was the Mexia Riding Club Sweetheart and rode in the Riding Club Drill Team with her dad.  Jeanie carried this tradition on with her son and enjoyed riding & showing horses until her health status changed. 

 She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Joe Williams and parents, Jack & Sarah Davis.  Survivors include her son, Michael Williams & wife, Laura of Mexia; grandsons, Ty & Trent Williams of Wortham; granddaughters, Kaitlyn Samples, Hannah Samples; bonus grandchild, Oaklyn Lummus; Sister, Jacqueline (Jackie) Casey & husband, Herb of Mexia;  caring companion & best friend Ronnie Welch and his children; nephews, Kevin Fitch & wife, Elke of Teague and Bruce Fitch & wife, Ofelia of Michigan, as well as many other relatives and friends. 

 Serving as pallbearers are Ty Williams, Trent Williams, Jake Fitch, Colby Welch, Steve Ferguson and Herb Casey.  Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Fitch, Adam Welch, Larry Baker and Bruce Fitch.
