Jimmy Don Burleson

Jimmy Don Burleson, 70 of Mexia, passed away on September 19, 2025, at Parkview Regional Hospital.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Pastor Wayne Grabs officiating.  Interment will follow at Prairie Hill Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held Monday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Jimmy Don was born on December 3, 1954, in Mexia, Texas to Don & Rita Ward Burleson.  He met Eva in August of 1974, and they were married for 50 years.  He was an owner/operator truck driver and owned a lawncare/tree trimming service.  After he retired from that, he spent a couple of years helping his parents with their cattle.  He enjoyed motorcycles, hotrods, guitars (he played bass).  He was described the class clown and prankster.  He also enjoyed fishing. 

Preceding Jimmy Don in death were his parents.  Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Evie Burleson of Mexia, numerous nieces and nephews and his guard dog, Buddy. 

Serving as pallbearers are Shannon Lawless, Ronnie Welch, Danny Ray Fortson, Robert Buchanan, Billy Sterling and Randy Cobb.  Honorary pallbearers are Jackie McKinley, Nolan Johnson, Jessie Buchanan and Ricky Buchanan.
