John Murphey

Funeral services for John (Johnny) David Murphey, 51, of Richmond, Texas, will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Ray Jones, officiating.  Interment will follow at Pt. Enterprise Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  John passed away on January 26, 2023.  John was a 1989 graduate of Mexia High School and employed by Shell USA Inc. since 2012. Previously, John spent years as an EMT, paramedic, police officer, and safety representative. He enjoyed time with his family, hunting, shooting sports, and designing custom knives (Silverback Customs).

Son of the late Bobby Murphey and Darlene (Jerry) Archer, all of Mexia, Texas. He was preceded in death by grandparents, Donald (Pookie) and Mary Ann Shamblin, John and Irene Murphey, John Ray and Margaret Archer, aunts, Doris Shamblin and Wanda McKinney.

John is survived by his wife, Angelle, children Raven (Ryan) Burkhart, Seth Norris, and Rylie Murphey, grandchildren, Sophia Norris and Cayden Burkhart, and furbaby, Nina, as well as siblings, Robert Murphey, Megan (Danny) Beldin, Michael Murphey, Jami Archer, Matthew Murphey, nieces and nephews, Amber (Grady) Maddox, Ashley Murphey, Bryce Sterling, Alexis Beldin, Rory Murphey, Daniel Beldin, David Murphey, Parker Murphey, and Rhyan Archer-Good, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and great nieces/nephews.

Serving as pallbearers are Seth Norris, Ryan Burkhart, Bryce Sterling, Daniel Beldin, David Murphey and Parker Murphey.
