Larry Bond Obituary

Larry Don Bond, 76 of Mexia, passed from this life on August 26, 2024 at the Skilled Care of Mexia.  A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. with Chaplain Larry Holden, officiating.

Larry was born on March 4, 1948 in Teague, Texas to Ralph & Berta Ferguson Bond.  During his working years, he worked on the family farm as a ranch hand, the Mexia State School, the tree farm, but he was best known for being the snow cone slinger. He enjoyed watching ballgames, listening to music, watching old movies as well as discovering new ones.  He was known for having many words of wisdom and great quotes, such as “You can’t take it with you”, You can tune a piano, but you can’t tune a fish”!  He especially loved his time with his kids and grandkids, biological and bonus ones. 

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and special lifelong friends, Loretta Hager and Kathy Johnson.  He is survived by his sons, Daniel Bond, Christopher Bond, Jordan Bond and Stephen Bond, bonus daughters, Kari Yerby and Elizabeth Pena; grandchildren, Cody Bond, Mathew Bond, Morganne Bond, Meaganne Bond, Liam & Noah; friend, Brent Hobbs; as well as numerous bonus grandkids and great-grandkids.
