Mary Frances Allen Obituary

Mary Frances Allen, 90 of Mexia, passed away peacefully on September 18, 2020 at Parkview Regional Hospital in Mexia.  A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Bill Wright, Jr. and Reverend Michael Vestal, officiating.  Interment will follow at Mexia Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.  It is asked that you please wear a mask to the visitation and the funeral.

Mary Frances, or Granny as known to many, was born on August 17, 1930 in Mexia, Texas to A.E. & Velma Morrow.  She graduated from Mexia High School and shortly after, married the love of her life, Joe D. Allen, in October of 1947.  They were members of Temple Baptist Church in Mexia. After raising her two sons, she went to work at Texas Parks & Wildlife, retiring after 22 years as regional secretary.  She was a loving, caring and generous woman.  Family was the main focus of her life, cooking big meals for them and spoiling and playing games with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was reunited in Heaven with her husband of 62 years, Joe D. Allen.  Also preceding her in death were her son, Joe Lynn Allen; infant daughter, Linda Sue Allen; parents, A.E. & Velma Morrow, as well as nine brothers and sisters.  Survivors include her son, Jerry R. Allen & wife, Donna of Mexia; daughter-in-law, Debbie Allen Hendrix of Mexia; grandchildren, Chris Allen & wife, Cari, Beck Allen, Stacie Carroll, Brandi Jones & husband, Michael and Lacy Paul & husband, Matt; great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Jayden, Colt, Madison, Kelsie, Carson, Paisley and one baby boy on the way; brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Charles & Dorothy Allen of Mexia, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.

Serving as pallbearers are Jimbo Ingram, T.D. Shivers, Kenny Kitchens, Spike Morton, Mike Morton and Barry Reed.   Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Russell, Stanley Allen, Charles Allen, Chris Allen, Matt Paul and Michael Jones
