Owen Lee Morgan, 73 of Wortham, passed away on December 23, 2020 at the Skilled Care of Mexia. Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 28, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Wortham with Reverend Justin Colquitte, officiating. Interment will follow at Wortham Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be help prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. Serving as pallbearers are Kelly Craig, Josh McClelland, J.R. McClelland, Justin Reese, Chunky Busby & Zackary Terry.
Mr. Morgan was born on July 25, 1947 in Galveston, Texas to Grover & Jessmyr Morgan. He served his country proudly in the United States Army from 1966-1969, having deployed to Vietnam. Upon his completion from service, he was in the Freestone County Sheriff’s office reserves for 31 years. He was a state licensed journeyman electrician since 1974. He was a member of Longbotham Lodge #428, V.F.W. #5872 and the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #96. Owen enjoyed fishing, long motorcycle rides with his wife, Irene and playing cards/dominoes with his friends. He was a giving person who loved helping the community.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Yrene Morgan. Survivors include his son, Jeremy Morgan & wife, Jean of Midway; sisters, Pam Craig of Wortham and Polly Horton & husband, Frankie of Corsicana; brother-in-law, Ricky Gallegos & wife, Brenda of Spanish Fort, Alabama; sister-in-law, Romona Huffman & husband, Richard of Reno, Nevada; step-granddaughters, Kelly & Jason Koenig of Willis, Elena & Justin Reese of Midway and Kasey & Dex Wright of League City; ten step great-grandchildren; one step-great great grandson; as well as numerous nieces & nephews.
