Ray L. Hill

Ray Lee Hill, 75, of Mexia, passed away on July 22, 2018 at the Manor Healthcare Residence in Mexia. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Chaplain Jon Honea officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Glade Cemetery. Family visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Mr. Hill was born on October 26, 1942 in Dardanelle, Arkansas to Otha & Laura Marie Cates Hill. He had been in the community since 1975. He married Bessie Jolene Nelson on December 29, 1964 at the Corsicana Kingdom Hall. He was a truck driver with Red Arrow and later a door greeter at Walmart in Mexia. He was a mechanic and handyman, being able to fix just about anything. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. Ray was preceded in death by his son, Mark Hill and his parents; survivors include his wife, Bessie J. Hill of Mexia; sons, Michael Hill of Mexia and Randy Hill & wife, Helen of Mabank; daughter, Sheila Melendez & husband, Tito of Mexia; grandchildren, Amber Powell of Mexia and Mandy and Mark Hill of Mabank; siblings, Otha Henry Hill, Carolyn Jackson, Harold Hill, Barbara Milligan, Lola Mitchell, Shirley Richardson, Julie Billingsley and Lester Hill, all of Arkansas, and Becky Gray of Connecticut; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family.
