Richard Douthit Obituary

Richard Dale Douthit, 67 of Mexia, passed away on July 27, 2022 at Parkview Regional Hospital.  A visitation for Mr. Douthit will be held on Saturday, July 30, 2022 from 3-5 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services.  After the visitation, at his request, Mr. Douthit will be cremated.

Richard was born on November 30, 1954 in Salem, Ohio to Morgan & Eleanor Webster Douthit.  He had been in Mexia since he was seven years old, and graduated from Mexia High School. After graduation, he served his country in the United States Navy, from 1974-1978, where he was a boiler tech.  He then went on to graduate top of his class from Lincoln Technical College in mechanics. He spent his career as a mechanic, including a time with Mexia ISD.

Richard enjoyed camping, and watching the history channel and HGTV.  But his biggest love was the affection he had for his grandchildren.  They were the light and loves of his life.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Morgan & Eleanor Douthit; son, Tommy Sides and aunt, Agnes Brown.  He is survived by his wife, Janice Douthit of Mexia; daughters, Serina Kuykendall & husband, Tracy of Mexia and Samantha Sides of Fairfield; son, Tillman Moore of and wife, Tammy of Mt. Calm; sister, Susan Martin of Mexia; brothers, David Douthit of Dallas and John Douthit of Seven Points, Texas; grandchildren, Christopher Bailey, Jason Bailey, Savanah Gideon, J. Rene Janes, Jessica Rodriguez, Jordin McPheeters, Jonathan Cotton, Christian Stuart, Juelia Moore and Stacy Moore; boo-coos of great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and extended family, his closest, most devoted friend, David Simmons and all of his adopted kids and grandkids, whom he considered as his own. Richard was very loved by all that knew him.
