Rosa Richmond

Rosa Jean Richmond, 82 of Mexia, passed away on October 18, 2020 at her residence.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 21, 2020 at 3:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Ronnie Dabney & Reverend David Snow, officiating. Interment will follow at Mexia Cemetery.  Family visitation will be held on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers are Johno Dabney, Jacob Dabney, Bennie Murphy, Billy Sterling, Thomas Tindell and R.J. Gilbert. Honorary pallbearer is Don High. 

Mrs. Richmond was born on August 2, 1938 in McComb, Mississippi.  She married Albert Richmond in August of 1956 at the Pike County Courthouse in Magnolia, Mississippi.  She worked as a spinner at the Mexia Cotton Mill and retired from food service at the Mexia State School.  Mrs. Richmond was a member of the Shiloh Baptist Church. 

Rosa was preceded in death by her husband, Albert; son, Albert Richmond, Jr.; sisters, Mary Lea Hamilton and Siss Sandifer and brothers, R.B. Sandifer, Elbert Sandifer, Pat Sandifer and Cooter Sandifer.  She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (Ann) Dabney of Mexia; grandsons, Johno Dabney & wife Cassie and Jacob Dabney & wife, Melissa, all of Mexia; great-granddaughter, Hannah Jacobs of Mexia; nieces, Shirley Musgrave of Denton and Viola Barnes of Mexia; great-niece, Callie Gilbert of Pilot Point; as well as numerous other nieces and nephews.
