Roy William Cholopisa

Roy Cholopisa, 65 of Tehuacana, passed away on September 5, 2021 at his home on the hill.  A visitation with the family will be held on Friday evening, September 10th from 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services.  His funeral service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at the Methodist Church in Tehuacana at 10:00 a.m, with Reverend Marcus Sheffield, officiating, followed by graveside at Tehuacana Cemetery.  Afterwards, the family will gather at the firehouse for lunch and a celebration of Roy’s life. 

Roy was born on December 7, 1955 in Fort Worth, Texas, fourth born child of Joe and Pauline Cholopisa.  He was an all-star athlete and Mr. Carter Riverside High in 1974, his graduating year.  He went to work at Swifts. He received his nursing degree from TCJC, where he went on to practice nursing at Twin Oaks Hospital in Fort Worth.  He always had the gift of carpentry, deciding to hang up his scrubs for paint brushes.  He became the most sought out after painter in Tehuacana and surrounding towns nearby.  Roy knew a lot about everything, with painting being his specialty.  Roy was the type of man that would do anything for anyone he could.  After moving to Tehuacana he ran for mayor, where he held his position until the day he passed. 

He is survived by his only child, his daughter whom he loved dearly, Carmen Zoe Cholopisa; his two brothers, Dr. Robin Cholopisa and Joe Cholopisa; his two sisters, Betsy Ward and Phyllis Panenka; three nephews and two nieces, as well as other extended family.

Roy was a man of God, and a man who believed in doing your best always.
