Shirley Katherine Libhart

Shirley Katherine Colson Libhart, 79 of Wortham, passed away on May 14, 2024 at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest Hospital in Waco, Texas.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services Chapel with Reverend Marcus Sheffield officiating. Interment will follow at Richland Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be held prior to the services, starting at 1:00 p.m. 

Shirley was born on June 1, 1944 in Corsicana, Texas to Johnnie & Ethel Martin Colson.  She graduated from Richland High School and then the Bistone School of Nursing.   She was employed at Parkview Regional Hospital for twenty years as a surgical scrub nurse and Mexia State School as a dorm nurse. Shirley also served as a part time private duty nurse and in nursing homes.  She also spent two years at Baylor Hospital in Dallas. 

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie & Ethel Colson; son, Jerry Wayne Libhart; grandson, Christopher Ridge; sister, Doris Cantrell; brothers, Johnnie Wayne Colson, James Colson and nephew, James Alvin Colson. 

Left behind to cherish her memories are her daughter, Darlene Libhart of Wortham; son, John Libhart & wife, Shelly of Wortham; three granddaughters, Lauren Gillean, Amber Libhart Johnson, Elisha Libhart; four great-grandsons, Westin, Mason, Dakota and Preston; and great granddaughter, Raylee. 

Serving as pallbearers are Kent Vogel, Scott Wilkins, Heath McCoslin, Arthur Busby, Keith Jones and Rodney Latham.  Honorary pallbearers are Doug Jones, Ray Jones, John Tacker, Gerald Ray Eddings, Ira Mathison and Bill Wright, Sr.
