Susan Inez McGowan

Susan Inez McGowan, 70 of Mexia, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025 in Mexia.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at the Lonestar Cowboy Church in Mexia, with Reverend Shane Winters officiating.  Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Services. 

Susan was born on March 10, 1955 in Mexia, Texas to Olen Payton & Juanita Ingram McGowan.  She was employed for 25 years with housekeeping at the Mexia State School.  She enjoyed arts and crafts, making jewelry and taking trips to the lake.  She was a member of First Baptist Church and was currently attending the Lonestar Cowboy Church. 

Susan was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her son, Steve McGowan; daughter, Jessica Porter; grandchildren, Seth McGowan and Seidy McGowan; brothers and sisters, Danny McGowan & wife, Joyce, Joan Wright & husband, Danny, Alice Akin & husband, Jim, Joe McGowan; cousin and best friend Lilly Hammer; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family.
