Willie Matchett

Willie Hazel Matchett passed away on March3, 2022 at her home in Mexia, Texas at the age of 80.  Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Mexia Cemetery.  Family visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. 

Hazel was born on August 6, 1941 in Groesbeck, Texas to Kittie Inez and Willie Wilburn Morehead.  She worked at the Mexia State School and retired after 37 years as a secretary.  Hazel loved spending time at home and watching wheel of fortune every day. In her spare time, she loved to go play bingo and go to the casino.

Preceding her in death were her daughters, Sharon Denise Dempsey and Delma Marie Dempsey; son, Elmer Russell Dempsey and parents, Kittie & Willie Morehead.  She is survived by her daughter, Melba Barber; daughter, Debbie Allen & husband, Robert; son, Elmer Dean Dempsey, and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Rest in peace, you will be greatly missed.  We love you!
