Wilma Jean Wilson, 90 of Mexia, passed away on July 28, 2021 at Providence Medical Center in Waco. A visitation with the family will be held on Saturday morning, July 31, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Jones Funeral Services. Afterwards, the family will go in procession to a graveside at 11:00 a.m. at Mexia Cemetery, with Reverend Marcus Sheffield, officiating.
Mrs. Wilson was born on May 27, 1931 in Groesbeck, Texas Jesse & Addie Mae Holloway Hood. She was a Mexia High School graduate, class of 1948. She met Seth Wilson on May 24, 1947 and they were married on October 1, 1949. She worked for two years for Texas Sports Wear in Mexia. Afterwards, she worked for the Mexia State Supported Living Center, from 1962, until retiring in 1987. While there, she worked in the recreation department and drove a school bus. She loved animals, especially her dogs. She took in all kinds of animals, from foxes, to alligators, and everything in between.
Wilma was preceded in death by her son, Mike Wilson; her parents; two sisters and one brother. Survivors include her husband of 71 years, Seth Wilson; children Dianne Wilson, Larry Wilson and Joe Wilson; eleven grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren, extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorial contributions in Wilma’s name be made to LARA’s House or the charity of your choice.
